So what do you need to know before your microneedling treatment in Sarasota? We got covered with all the information below! We can't wait to see you soon!
What is microneedling?
Aging is the most natural experience our bodies will ever be subject to. And as our collagen and elastin production declines, our skin begins to change.
With the microneedling facial treatment, your esthetician will use a dedicated device to create micro-wounds in the skin. As we move the device over your face, under eye, neck and décolleté, it acts as a catalyst to stimulate collagen and elastin production. This maintains and/or gives you plump, bouncy and smooth skin.
What skin concerns does microneedling treat?
Preferred due to its minimally invasive approach, microneedling targets skin concerns like fine lines, wrinkles, and a myriad of other aging concerns. Microneedling can support the smoothing out and minimization of enlarged pores, hyperpigmentation, uneven skin tone, and helps tremendously with acne scarring.
Areas of the body that FACEPOP microneedling focuses on
At FACEPOP, we focus on microneedling of the face, neck, and décolleté. You can also opt for a partial or full back session or some combination of the above. For a customized experience, check in with your specialist during your consultation to identify which route is best for your needs. We also finish every treatment with scalp Microneedling to stimulate acupressure points to help lift and tighten the skin.
Who is a good candidate for microneedling?
If you’re a person who seeks treatment for scarring, wrinkles, or hyperpigmentation, you’re a great candidate for microneedling. All of those concerns can benefit from the body speeding up its healing capabilities to support a smooth skin texture, acne scars, and removal of dead skin. Also, microneedling is the perfect treatment to add in a couple times a year to help maintain the youthful look of smooth bouncy skin!
A look at the process of microneedling
It’s easy to look at the process of microneedling and feel a bit anxious about what it might entail. The good news is that millions of people have had great success with concerns that are exactly the same as yours! If you're curious about testimonials or interested in seeking guidance from our team, we’re here for you every step of the way.
Preparing for your microneedling appointment
Preparing for your microneedling session couldn’t be easier. You’ll need to pause using any type of abrasive skincare products in your routine. This, of course, will include exfoliants, acids, and other active ingredients at least 48 hours before your microneedling session. Protect your body from harmful UV rays, all of the time, but especially before your appointment. You will want to stay out of direct sunlight before and after microneedling for best results and maintain the skin's health. Microneedling cannot be performed on anyone that uses tanning beds.
Take a look at your medications and make sure that there are no isotretinoin-based or topical retinoid medications in your routine. Work with your esthetician and doctor to determine the best course of action as those types of medications must be avoided at least 7 days prior to your microneedling appointment.
What to expect during the session
During your microneedling treatment, your esthetician will cleanse your face and apply a topical numbing cream upon request. Once the numbing cream begins to take effect, a repairing and healing serum may be applied. The microneedling pen will then move in circles all over your face as the microneedles penetrate into the skin boosting your collagen production.
The best tips for microneedling aftercare
After your microneedling session, looking after your skin is your most important job. Avoid prolonged exposure to direct sunlight for at least two weeks, and within 24 hours of your appointment, make sure to use a sunblock of SPF 30 or higher when you’re outside and wear a big floppy hat! Using ice on your face can interfere with the natural inflammatory process you’re trying to induce, so even though it sounds enticing, avoid using it. We will go over all the after care together and send home an instruction card as well.
How many sessions of microneedling are recommended?
To reap the benefits of your microneedling sessions, 4 to 6 sessions are recommended at a minimum. This gives your skin the opportunity to heal and make real-time progress as it rejuvenates and restores its collagen and elastin levels for long-term results.
If you have deep scarring on your face, your esthetician could recommend up to eight sessions or more. To get an idea of what works best for you, we will do a thorough consultation to get to know you and your skin and come up with a game plan together! We are here to help you reach your goals!
